Transgender child stars in Modern Family episode

In the upcoming episode, titled ‘A Stereotypical Day’, Mitchell and Cam will allow their daughter Lily to have a friend over, who happens to be a transgender boy called Tom, to play.

Mitch and Cam are happy to see they’ve raised such an accepting daughter, though that changes when they overhear Lily insult Tom. Those who watch the show know that Lily has been keeping her dads on their toes over the years.

The guest role of Tom will be filled by Jackson Millarker, an eight-year-old transgender actor.

Modern Family director Ryan Case shared a selfie with the young boy on set alongside the caption: “This is Jackson Millarker. He’s eight years old, from Atlanta, and just happens to be transgender.

“He plays Lily’s friend Tom in this week’s Modern Family and he’s wonderful. One of the many reasons I love being a part of this show.”

Modern Family features many different types of family, and has been running since 2009. The ABC show features a number of situations often encountered in real life family environments.
