General Mills announces opposition to ban on marriage equality

General Mills has announced that the MN corporation opposes the constitutional amendment seeking to limit the freedom to marry for same-sex couples in Minnesota. The Fortune 500 Company is located in Golden Valley, MN. General Mills has mainstream consumer brands like Betty Crocker, Yoplait yogurt and Cheerios.

Ken Charles, General Mills’ vice president of global diversity and inclusion recently stated, “We respect and defend the right of others to disagree. But we truly value diversity and inclusion — and that makes our choice clear…a diverse, inclusive culture produces a stronger, more engaged workforce — and strengthens innovation.”

General Mills has become the second major corporation in Minnesota to publicly oppose the same-sex marriage amendment. Until now, St. Jude Medical, based in Little Canada, has been the only Fortune 500 company in Minnesota to oppose the marriage amendment.
