Jill Biden addresses gay support group PFLAG in Alexandria

Second Lady Jill Biden spoke out for supportive parenting and against school bullying as the keynote speaker at the biannual national convention of Parents, Families and Friends of Gays and Lesbians. She pointed to progress for gay rights under the Obama administration, including the signing of a hate crimes prevention act and the repeal of the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. She said the White House has also held a conference on bullying prevention and that the Department of Education has held summits on bullying and helped guide schools in how to combat bullying and support gay-straight alliances.
