St. Cloud Minnesota group plans GLBT prom for area teens

A group called Central MN Prom Alternative has organized an alternative prom for GLBT students and their allies. It’s being co-organized by a psychotherapist at Element Mental Health Services, which has a GLBT teen support group. For some community members this is a reflection of the growth and diversity in Central Minnesota. The prom is set for April; and ages 16-19 are welcome. The event will be chaperoned and will not have alcohol. The prom will feature traditional prom activities, including a grand march and a prom queen and king. The theme will be fireworks. Central MN Prom Alternative is communicating with the St. Paul organization, District 202, which has an alternative prom in the Twin Cities.
