19-year old Iowan talks about his two moms

Zach Wahls, an engineering student at the University of Iowa, Eagle Scout, and 6th generation Iowan spoke about the strength of his family during a public forum on House Joint Resolution 6 in the Iowa House of Representatives. He was raised by his two moms (who wed after 15 years) along with his biological sister.

Zach says, “Some students in class have asked, “Can gays even raise kids? And I raise my hand and I say I do pretty well. If I was your son, Mr. Chairman, I think I’d make you proud…”

Says Wahls to a roaring crowd, “…the sexual orientation of my parents has had zero effect on the content of my character…”
