Family Week 2007

Family Pride Coalition is partnering with R Family Vacations to create “Provincetown Family Week”, a week-long LGBTQ family adventure in one of the most gay friendly destinations in the world. It is a chance for our children to meet other children with LGBTQ parents and for parents to meet other parents and share experiences.

The week will be structured differently than in past years. There is no registration fee. Every family who travels to Provincetown for family week can participate. R Family Vacations will produce all of the activities during the week including beach picnics, puppet workshops, dance class, themed dinners, and a Broadway Brunch (with real Broadway performers!). Family Pride has organized educational workshops and speakers as well as gatherings for various types of families.

There will be some events that require tickets and activities that you just need to show up and get ready for some fun.

Everyday there will be a gathering for “r” under 4’s, an educational kids class (dance, puppets, kite making) for kids 5-12, and a beach activity for the entire family. You won’t want to miss one of our signature events (especially the teens!) “r Amazing Race”. Everyone can participate.

Major Highlights include:

  • Saturday: Sunset Family Beach Picnic
  • Sunday: R Family Broadway Brunch

    ….of hard-earned money!

The events at Family Week did not live up to the hype, and they were too expensive.

Poor management + Depressing Atmosphere = Unhappy Families

I am so sorry you felt that way, I wonder if we were at the same event? I loved my time with other moms, and when I had an issue, I talked right away to the staff who helped me immediately! I hope you give Family Week another chance. It is so very important for our children to be with other families like ours. The sessions offered by Family Pride were great!
I think if I want Family Week to be different (i.e. bonfires) I can empower myself to gather friends and do it myself. Isn’t that what the spirit of Family Week is anyway? To grow stronger from our relationships with each other?
