Duke University students work for marriage equality

Asheville, North Carolina City Council passes pro-gay resolution 5-1

The Asheville, NC City Council approved a resolution 5-1 late Tuesday calling for creation of a city registry for people in same-sex relationships and endorsing more rights for same-sex couples. The resolution also calls for an ordinance against bullying on city property to be drawn up and for banning discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or sexual identification in city government employment decisions.


North Carolina court upholds adoption by lesbian senator

The Dallas Voice reports that the North Carolina Court of Appeals ruled to preserve an adoption by the state's only openly gay legislator Sen. Julia Boseman [D-New Hanover].


North Carolina lesbian moms WILL NOT be discriminated against at consignment sale

A lesbian couple say they were initially refused entry to a popular children's consignment clothing sale at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds.

The two moms started an online protest, and now the organizers of the biannual Kids Exchange sales say they will change a decade-old policy.


Candidate John Edwards will end discrimination against gay couples.

In her second speech aimed at our community, Elizabeth Edwards, wife of Democratic Presidential Candidate, Senator John Edwards, pledged to fight for issues that effect gays and lesbians.
