A New Book for the Children of Gestational Surrogates: Surrogacy Helps A Family Grow! by Sharon LaMothe

I am thrilled to announce that my book, Surrogacy Helps Make a Family Grow!, is available on Amazon.com for those living and working in the world of surrogacy. This heartwarming story is written for the children of surrogate mothers who want to explain to them just how and why they are carrying a baby for another family.

Landmark British Surrogacy Case - Court Approves More Than "Reasonable Expenses"

In a landmark case, a British high court judge has allowed a couple that paid their American surrogate more than “reasonable expenses” to keep the baby even though that type of payment is not allowed under British law. “The baby was allowed to enter Britain temporarily on a US passport, but would have been potentially stateless and parentless if the courts had not retrospectively approved the large payment.”

Surrogacy from the Surrogate Families' Perspective

I just read a wonderful book, and I want to share it with all of you. It is Once Upon a Surrogate: The Stork’s Helpers by Jill Hancock Reeder

This book is an absolute joy to read and a book that NEEDED to be written. Jill, with the help of her supportive and creative family, has created an absolutely beautiful story that describes the process of surrogacy to the children of the surrogate, who are often overlooked in the process, Once Upon a Surrogate provides an excellent conversation starter for surrogates and their families.

Discussing hard choices – before they must be made By Mary Ellen McLaughlin

A recent article in the National Post (http://www.nationalpost.com/news/Couple+urged+surrogate+abort+fetus+defe...) highlights an issue in the fertility industry that is ripe for discussion. A couple that had turned to surrogacy after failed infertility treatments subsequently urged their surrogate to get an abortion after doctors found abnormalities in the fetus. The surrogate initially refused.

One quote in the article really stood out. “The physician…said it appeared to him that the three had never seriously considered such a scenario before the pregnancy.”

A Tribute to Compassionate Surrogacy

Aren’t all women who volunteer to become surrogates/carriers considered “compassionate”? Most are but because money is involved the altruistic part is often overlooked and the focus becomes more financial. However, there are women out there who are willing to carry a baby for another couple/individual because they feel compassion….sympathy even, for the plight of the Intended Parent. This doesn’t diminish because financial compensation is included in their contracts.

Los Angeles Surrogacy Center Our Agency's Philosophy

At Los Angeles Surrogacy Center we believe that choosing an agency to assist you in beginning or expanding your family should be affordable. Not only should the agency be reasonable in price, but equally as important is the level of personal, attentive service given to both the recipients as well as the surrogate mothers. We pride ourselves on providing our recipients with compassionate guidance throughout the entire surrogacy process, from the moment a potential recipient contacts us through and beyond the successful birth of a baby via surrogacy.
