Lesbian couple 'forced out of church for holding hands in the pews'

A lesbian couple claim they were forced out of their church after they were spotted holding hands during a service. Kersten Pegden and Nina Lawrence said that other members of the congregation at St Nicholas Anglican church in Corfe Mullen, Dorset, thought their behaviour was 'overtly sexual'. They said other couples within the congregation held hands and they felt it was their sexuality that had influenced the complaints.

It is the first birth certificate that leaves the father off the official record for the first time in nearly 200 years, and it happened in the UK.

"It shows only a mother and a ‘parent’ – also a woman – for newly-born Lily-May Betty Woods.

The baby was born to 38-yearold Natalie Woods. The parent named on the form is Miss Woods’s partner, 47-year-old Betty Knowles.

There is no mention of the father, or donor, as the couple prefer to call the anonymous man whose sperm provided half of Lily-May’s genes through IVF treatment.

Israel - Decision is a First to Allow Gay Couple to Adopt Child

March 10, 2009 - According to Global Legal Monitor and the Global New Service of the Jewish People, the Tel Aviv family court approved a request by a gay couple, who had married in Toronto in 2004, to adopt a foster son they had raised for over 14 years, even though he has already reached the age of majority. The decision is the first to recognize the right of a same-sex male couple to adopt. In October 2005, Israel's Supreme Court authorized the adoption by a lesbian couple of each other's biological children.
