Embryo Dispute - Here is an udpated blog post on the embryo lawsuits via the AFA blog.
Will write more next week on this case when I return from the AFA Illuminations Gala -
Just interested in your thoughts...
Couples in the St. Louis suburb of Kirkwood and California are suing each other for control of two frozen embryos.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Friday that Edward and Kerry Lambert of Pleasanton, Calif., are suing to secure custody of the embryos from Jen and Patrick McLaughlin of Kirkwood.
Meanwhile, the McLaughlins are suing the Lamberts.
Embryo donation & family trees- I found an interesting article today that I thought might provoke some thoughts in both the industry and by those considering this option. I have included the family tree diagram, which was very interesting and provocative; however, at the same time I felt that shows how diverse families are and how these individuals came together to create several beautiful families - without the children losing their sense of identity. Let me know your thoughts.
What do you do with your embryos? It's a dilemma that many couples and individuals who have gone through IVF treatment face, as there is an estimated 400,000 to 500,000 cryopreserved embryos in the United States alone. You are done having your own children and you are not sure what to do with the embryos you have cryopreserved at your IVF center. As the years go on, you are charged more each year to maintain them. It is a very real dilemma for a lot of people.
