Respect For All Week just came to an end in the 1,700 New York City public schools. It was a week-long anti-bullying effort promoting diversity and tolerance.
Now City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and the Schools Chancellor are implementing a series of new pro-tolerance education initiatives.
The initiatives will be implemented during the 2011-2012 school year. Quinn and the Department of Education unveiled the program back in 2007.

Same sex marriages performed elsewhere are recognized as valid marriages by the state of New York.
