Dr. Doyle: Most women need one day after the egg retrieval before resuming normal activity, mostly because of the anesthesia and the bloating. However after the embryo transfer, even though it is a painless process, we recommend 36 hours of limited activity to allow for the embryo to implant. But this is really not as physically a challenging process as most people imagine.

QUESTION: My partner and I are deciding on how many eggs to fertilize with our sperm. What are the odds that two eggs will result in one fetus? If we're sure we only want one child, how many embryos do you suggest?
