Lady Gaga honored as GLBT 'Hero'

This year's annual Trevor Live event will honor Lady Gaga. The Trevor Project is an organization that offers suicide-prevention services to GLBT youth. Gaga and her mother recently started the Born This Way Foundation, which will focus on "youth empowerment and equality by addressing issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development and will utilize digital mobilization as one of the means to create positive change." Daniel Radcliffe will receive The Trevor Project's annual Hero Award for 2011 this month. The actor will appear at the NYC gala to collect the prize and discuss his outreach to young gay people.

Proud Lesbians: Ally Sheedy's daughter and mother

With her daughter's permission, Ally Sheedy announced that her daughter Rebecca [pictured with Mom] is a lesbian. She made the statement while on the red carpet of The Trevor Project's 10th annual East Coast fundraising gala. The Trevor Project is the nation's largest GLBT youth suicide prevention organization.

While on the red carpet, Sheedy said: "My daughter has just come out, so... it's personal."

The Trevor Life Award was presented to Emmy Award®-winning comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.


Jodie Foster aids suicide prevention helpline for gay youth. Kicks-off campaign with largest gift in organization’s history.

The Trevor Project, the non-profit organization that operates the nation’s only around-the-clock suicide prevention helpline for gay and questioning youth, announced the launch of a major fundraising campaign to fund two call centers that will take crisis calls made to The Trevor Helpline. The goal of the campaign, which is the largest in the organization’s history, is to raise $1,000,000 in multi-year gifts.
