Cyndi Lauper asked guests Norah Jones, Clay Aiken, Vanessa Carlton and others, to come together for a very special cause: to help raise awareness about homelessness among GLBT youth. Also joining the group was Carson Kressley, Rosie O’Donnell and Wanda Sykes, and Lou Reed. Cyndi said that she was shocked to learn that up to 40 percent of all homeless youth in the US identify as GLBT, and added, “My hope is that through this inspiring evening of music and comedy we can raise awareness and much needed funds to help these young people.” Earlier this year, Lauper helped open the True Colors Residence, the first permanent shelter in New York for homeless GLBT young people. Cyndi has also recorded a new version of the song “Home for the Holidays” with Norah Jones, as a special Christmas release. It’s now available at iTunes.
