San Francisco State examines health of gay parents

Less than 2 weeks ago Professor Colleen Hoff from San Francisco state university was granted $275,000 from the National Institutes of Heath to explore how parenting impacts gay men’s health. This study is going to explore if gay men respond to the challenge of parenting differently than heterosexual men. This 2 year study will measure the changes in gay mens stress levels, health, relationship dynamics and even exposure to discrimination

This is going to be an interesting study and I will be following up on it. I believe gay men will give much more attention to their children than heterosexual men. I know one gay couple that is raising 2 baby girls and they are great kids that have a happy life, this compared to another heterosexual couple I know that has very upset kids, mostly due to their father not being present most of the time.
Did you know that one in every five gay males are already raising children and researchers believe this may grow if gay men and lesbians become more accepted by society and gain more legal rights.
