The Center [New York City's LGBT community center], sponsored it's fifth annual seminar called Men Having Babies on September 12, 2009. The conference is about biological parenting for gay men - and it's hosted by Center Kids, the Center's family program for LGBT parents and their children.
Men Having Babies has been offered for the last four years, with dozens of people in attendance. This year's event included a closer look at egg donation considerations. The format of the event provided expert and personal advice while also allowing a wide range of organizations to introduce themselves and make contact with interested prospective parents.
The event had three parts:
The panel was moderated by Terry Boggis, the director of Center Kids. A surrogate shared her story, and took time to answer a few questions from us.
<!--Admission was $10, with proceeds benefiting Center Kids. Given the high turnout and long registration lines experienced in previous years, you are encourage to reserve a seat online on the Center's website.-->
The event took place at the NYC LGBT Center: 208 West 13th Street [near 7th Avenue].
