Wanda Sykes brings her standup to DC in HBO special

Wanda Sykes has a new HBO comedy special "I'ma Be Me, " debuting Saturday at 9 p.m.

According to nola.com, Sykes devotes the middle portion of her stand-up routine to observations and commentary about current events - including gay marriage.

Sykes, 45, steers the concluding segment into more conventional standup territory, including the woes of aging, late-in-life parenthood [an out lesbian, Sykes and her wife have twin infants].

To illustrate how being gay is sometimes harder than being black, she plays herself coming "out" as black to her mother.

"Was it 'Soul Train?' " says the aggrieved mom. "I shouldn't have let you watch 'Soul Train.'"

Wanda Sykes: Parenthood 'puts everything in perspective'

Comedienne Wanda Sykes describes to Extra how motherhood has changed her life:

"'They're great. It's great,' the new mom gushed, adding that her life has changed completely since the birth of the twins. 'I realized that I don't matter for s***. Basically. I don't matter. Meaningless... It just puts everything in perspective.'

"The New Adventures of Old Christine star also confesses that diaper duty isn't as easy as it looks! 'They're peeing on me. The little boy... I know I have to put a towel or something over top. But as soon as I put it on, he pees... It's like the carnival. He's after me.'

"As for getting any sleep, Sykes jokes, 'Not at all. I'm napping right now.' She adds, 'I'm sure I have some baby poo on me somewhere.'"

Sykes recently spoke at President Obama's first White House Correspondents' Association dinner [pictured]; and just announced her new late-night talk show, tentatively titled “The Wanda Sykes Show.” It's scheduled to premiere on Saturday, Nov. 7 - on Fox.

Wanda Sykes becomes mom of twins!

Very happy news for funny lady Wanda Sykes! The 45-year-old came out publicly as a lesbian last November. And, now Wanda and her wife, Alex, are proud parents!

Sykes' wife gave birth to healthy twins, a boy and a girl, on April 27th. Their little boy Lucas Claude and daughter Olivia Lou are said to be doing well. The twins are the first children for the happy couple.

Sykes rep confirmed the news adding that "All are happy and healthy and at home." Wanda Sykes and her wife, Alex, welcomed twins on April 27, her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively.

Daughter Olivia Lou weighed in at 6 lbs., 7 oz., and was 19-inches long. Son Lucas Claude debuted at 7 lbs., 9 oz., and was 20-inches long. The comedian's wife gave birth to the babies.

"All are happy and healthy and at home," says Sykes's rep Danica Smith.

The actress, who stars on New Adventures of Old Christine, and her wife were married on Oct. 25, 2008. The twins are the first children for the couple.
