I am curious how many of you out there picked a donor you already knew? If you did this, or didn't do this, I'd be very curious to hear why, pros, cons, etc... We've been leaning towards not picking a donor we know for several reasons, which I'll go in to after hearing feedback. I have had a few friends come forward expressing interest in being a donor. Anyone have experience in this matter?

We know our donor
We are using a relative of mine to be our donor. This way the baby, if we ever get lucky enough to concieve again will be from my side of the family as well. Pro and cons....cost! That is the biggest thing, we have been trying for over one year...We did get the plus sign once but it ended in an eptopic and my girl lost her left tube do to the complications so we are trying again and will be able to test for the positive later this month. We had IUI this past week. we have so much money invested in this journey already.... wish us luck!

We use anonymous donors!
We use a sperm bank with anonymous donors...we would like to keep our family just the 4 (or 5) of us! We don't think it is important for our kids to "know" their donor (I don't know my biological parents and am none the worse for the wear)! Good luck with your decision!

Thanks!
Thank you both for your responses. We have been leaning towards using a sperm bank with an anonymous donor, so it's very helpful to hear feedback from different perspectives. Us 2 - I am so sorry about your girl's complications. I wish you both the best. Thanks!
