Samuel Wood, MD on "Octuplet Mess"

A must-read blog post from Samuel Wood, MD, who is a board certified reproductive endocrinologist and has been practicing in this field for 15 years, on the octuplets. He puts the blame squarely on the shoulders of the physician and has contacted the medical board to investigate the situation.

He not only shows leadership in contacting the medical board, but also compassion as he urges all of us to give the children our support, as they are innocent.

This selfish mother deserves the blame..

This 33 year old single woman was unemployed, had 6 children under 8 (one of which has autism), was already receiving Welfare and lived with her bankrupt parents. She then intentionally had 8 embryos implanted in her (in Mexico according to her mother). Who did she think was going to pay for her 14 children???? The taxpayers of course. She shouldn’t be rewarded by anyone (Social Services, the public or Media outlets etc.) for her selfishness and arrogance. There are so many more honest and deserving people in society who get neither donations nor financial assistance even though they're also in need.

I get that. I know so many couples who are struggling to have one child, let alone 14. But, as Dr. Wood pointed out, those children are innocent and they should not be blamed or ostracized because of the inexcusable actions of the physician who transferred those embryos.
