Potty training update

We started our potty-training adventure when our son was just 13-mos-old. For the first two months, he was quite the trooper, or shall I say pooper. Then, without warning, he refused to sit on the kiddie-sized toilet. When I say he refused...he really refused. He would say, "No." When we replied with, "let's just sit for a minute," he would arch his back and scream, "NO!"

Our pediatrician was of the mind that we should not force him. The books say the same thing.
We acquiesced. Every now and then, though, I would ask my son if he wanted to go sit on the potty. His response was usually, "No." When he was about 16 or 17-mos, he started saying, "poop," after he had...well...pooped. I began to think that he was getting "ready" for the potty again. With the holidays approaching, I decided to delay our "practice" until January.

Over the last week, we have sat on the potty at least once daily. Not only have we been successful at sitting on the potty, but also we have also successfully peed or pooped a couple of times. I am hopeful that over the next 3 to 4 months we will have a during-the-day-underwear-wearing little boy.
