WATCH: Powerful straight allies create new ads for marriage equality

The Respect for Marriage Coalition will launch full-page ads in several major newspapers and a TV spot featuring President Obama, Colin Powell, former first lady Laura Bush and former Vice President Dick Cheney.

The goal of the $1 million media campaign is to show that Republicans and Democrats agree on the need for marriage equality.

The effort supports equality at a time when two major cases are going before the Supreme Court - one about the California marriage ban, the other about the federal Defense of Marriage Act.
