Camp to Belong, an international non-profit organization dedicated to reuniting siblings placed in separate foster homes, concluded another successful season, hosting more than 900 campers. Since its inception more than 18 years ago, Camp To Belong has brought together nearly 5,000 siblings. Currently, there are more than 500,000 youth in foster care, of those 75 percent are separated from at least one sibling.
While at one of the eight Camp To Belong locations in the United States or the one location in Australia, campers spend their days reinforcing the bond with their separated siblings through such activities as swimming, rafting, horseback riding and wall climbing.
Camp To Belong is supported through grants, corporate sponsorships and donations from individuals. With this support, Camp To Belong provides training, camp curriculum and scholarships for children to attend camp. The support also provides for the expansion of Camp To Belong with the creation of new membership camps. For instance, in August of 2013, Camp To Belong Colorado will launch at Anderson Camps outside of Glenwood Springs, Colorado.
