Texas teachers forced to offer Bible study

Our friends over at QUEERTY offer direction to Texas teachers, forced to implement Bible study into their classrooms. How about including fact-or-fiction on the syllabus?

"Texas legislators decided there is room for Bible study in public schools. So they created a law mandating students receive Bible "literacy" teachings in the classroom.

"By state law, schools must bring kids up to speed on Adam and Eve, just like they do physics and trig. But the law doesn't say how they need to go about doing it, which means some schools are having kids open up Bibles in standard classes, while other schools are offering Bible study as an elective."

That this type of declaration should be inclusive, bound into an elective religious literature course or mythology course which includes the study of all texts, whether the Torah, the Christian Bible, the Quran, various Buddhist texts, and even taking into account original writings that influenced New Age religion.

So rather than saying "We best let 'dem kiddies read der Bible", they can outline a program that would open children to a wider variety of education in religions impact on antiquity and a greater comprehension of religious literature.

Of course, throw Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and paganism into the modern Texan classroom and you may end up with some witch burnings...

Opportunity to poke holes in the Bible

I guess this is an opportunity to expose inconsistencies in the Bible, and to counter the recent homophobic hate that is being spewed by Christians who are not Christ-like.
