Our son is asking where his daddy is?

We are a lesbian couple who now have a beautiful 4 year old. He is now asking where his daddy is. We have been going by the ANSWER what is asked theory. I am just getting a little worried that we handle this right. His biological father is my wife's brother (all in the family!)
We have told him that his "father" is in America (we have transplanted to rural France). Now he is saying he does not want to have 2 mommies, but wants one mommy and a daddy. I am sure this is "normal". Just a bit freaked out. Have any of you folks gone thru this phase yet? Would love to hear thoughts.

All the best to you,
Lisa
My 2 cents

Hey Sara,

Congratulations!! I'm always excited to hear of couples having children. As the daughter of a lesbian, I always like to recommend Abigail Garner's book "Families Like Mine." If you haven't read it, it's an awesome way to get the child's point of view. :)

Wishing you all the best on conceiving. Enjoy the journey!

Create a great day!

Well I am excited that this website is up and running. Looking forward to being able to talk to people and share our experiences. Any advice that anyone can offer will be gladly accepted. My wife and I are planning on TTC in the new year. So right now we are busy charting, tracking and temp taking. Is there anyone around who is getting ready to do the same? Congrats to all those who are already parents.

take care
sara
