Your words are so inspirational. Despite all of the words of caution from friends and family about not getting our hopes up the first time, it wasn't possible to avoid high hopes. The first day was very hard, but right now we're focused on hope. Hope that we're pregnant and the knowledge that we've got an amazing support network who are routing us on. Congratulations on your beautiful family. I can't help but smile when I think about the joy a child brings to the world and you hav two beautiful children. You're doubly blessed.

All the best to you and your family.

The journey - it's up's and downs

Hang in there guys, I felt loss and grieved every time we heard that my partner was not yet pregnant. As the months went by, and each time everything looked good, the loss became harder to deal with.

But, just as you have, it's most crucial to turn that loss into desire. You want a child so badly and it's just an opportunity to realize how very deeply you want to be a Dad.

BTW: We have twins that are turning 2 in a few weeks. ;-) It's beyond worth it and you too will know that soon, I am sure!

The good part of all this is that you have found a cooperative surrogate. My partner and I were fortunate in that the retrieval, fertilization and transfer all worked the first time. If you have to try this a second time, you may be stressing over whether you are going to have multiples. Either way it is tough. Good luck.

Egg Retrieval, fertilization and embryo transfer

After several months of working through the process, meeting our surrogate, choosing an egg donor, going through the legal documentation...we have arrived at this special moment. As we began, it seemed like it would take forever to get to this point, but as with everything else that you meet with great anticipation, the time has flewn. Last Monday, our egg donor was ready for the egg retrieval. We had been told that she had over 20 follicles so when we learned that they were only able to retrieve 8 eggs, we were concerned.
