Hey there from Colorado too... Being a foster parent requires a truly remarkable person, but going it alone makes you all the more remarkable. But isn't having a toddler around worth it??? We have an adopted 16 month old who consistently wears out two daddies, so I have no idea how I'd ever do it as one. You have my admiration!

I'm happy to read this blog of yours. I also read your profile info and i'm also happy to hear you are single by choice!! I'm 5 months pregnant and I am also single by choice. And I COMPLETELY agree that it is a scary thought being a single parent, but in some cases I think it can be way more beneficial for the child/ren. Good luck with "the kid" :)

First weekend

The past couple days have been purty good. Probably because they have been a whirlwind of activity, and I tend to be happiest when I am busy. Since I got my boy with nothing but the outfit he was wearing and a couple diapers, we spent the first half of the day shopping. We managed to get a few more outfits, a ton of diapers and baby wipes, and a bunch of age appropriate toys. One of the difficult things about foster care is that you have to be prepared for various ages. I have both a bed for the "big kids" and a crib for the "little kids," but toys I have more or less skimped on.
