I'm A proud single dad of a almost 13 year old boy! I adopted Isiah almost 3 years ago and its been the best thing I have ever done! I love being a dad! I love when he calls me dad or daddy! I love when he tells me he loves me before I tell him! Its been an amazing journey! Yes, adopting a preteen boy has had it challenges, but the reward has been so much greater! He has taught me what real love is and much more! To watch Isiah grow into a young man has been amazing!

Much like a coach on a sports team, parents sometimes will watch their child go along in life and, having the advantage of watching from the sidelines, see the mistakes they are making and what consequences lie ahead. We want to rush in and guide them in the way they should do. The difficulty is letting your child go headlong into that mistake as they attempt to spread their wings and fly.

One state has taken a step forward on this front: Illinois.
