I'm American, but I've been living and working in Uganda for the past 8 years. I tried to adopt from Ukraine for 3.5 years and after spending about 25k, I found myself back exactly where I had started.
Then last June (2007) four embroyos that were half me got transferred into a Ugandan woman without my permission. I never met this surrogate and she never signed any surrogacy documents. It was classic East Africa confusion. This surrogate then completely disappeared and I never knew if she became pregnant.
