Never Give Up!

"If you must begin then go all the way, because if you begin and quit, the unfinished business you have left behind begins to haunt you all the time."
– Chögyam Trungpa

My Granny used to say, "Finish what you start!" It didn't matter what it was for either. I could be eating something and not want the rest of my food and I would be told I had to finish it. My Grandmother was adamant about me finishing school, my homework, my piano lessons, (Of which I did not finish, and yes it haunts me!), etc. She was the type of woman that once her mind was made up on something she saw it through to the end. It was one of her missions, I believe, in life to instill the same tenacity in her family.

No Change, No Growth, No Life

"If we don't change, we don't grow. If we don't grow, we are not really living. Growth demands a temporary surrender of security." ~ Gail Sheehy

You are looking at your life and see that things are not quite the way you hoped or wanted them to be. Your finances are, well, not enough. Your job is not what you really wanted; not even related to your schooling. You feel stuck; like you just keep spinning your wheels doing the same things over and over again. You could even say that you have read all the self-help books that you could put your hands on and nothing happened.

Good Parenting: Teaching Kids Through Their Failure

No parent wants to see their child stumble along in life. No parent wants to see their child fail. Much like a coach on a sports team, parents sometimes will watch their child go along in life and, having the advantage of watching from the sidelines, see the mistakes they are making and what consequences lie ahead. We want to rush in and guide them in the way they should do. The difficulty is letting your child go headlong into that mistake as they attempt to spread their wings and fly.

Homeschool

Recently I started homeschooling (or rather unschooling) my youngest son. This decision was made because he is ADHD with bi polar Disorder and can display oppositional defiance at times. These things don't make for a good school day.

He has been in and out of institutions and instead of working with my son to really help him learn how to cope, they upped his medication dosages and even added a fairly questionable sedative. So, this leads me to being home with him.
