WE ARE PREGNANT!!!
We took a pregnancy test a little over a week ago and have since then had two blood tests to confirm and watch the progression of all the hormones. Everything looks great so far.
We feel so blessed. We are so shocked that it happened on the first try given our bleak news from the doctor. It was a great Thanksgiving holiday surprise.
Thank you all for your continued well wishes and support.
Since our last post we have undergone HSG, Clomid, IUI, and Prometrium & progesterone therapy. It has been five days since the IUI. It was an extremely fast and painless (compared to the HSG!!) procedure. My HSG was not very good. It showed both fallopian tubes as being blocked. We have no clue why this could be but are hoping that it was a false positive. Our RE said that there was a little bit of an opening on each side...so we decided to go ahead as planned and if we are not pregnant within three months then they will have to go in and check it out.
We met with our reproductive gynecologist yesterday. We were really very nervous because we were not sure how everything would go, how we would be treated, and other questions we had. But our doctor was the BEST! She took a good deal of time to walk us through all of our options. She did an ultrasound and ran some blood tests. Everything looks great so we can begin trying IUI. Which means we will be able to go in for IUI in about two weeks. And an added blessing...our insurance will cover everything at 100%! We are so excited and ready to start the trying. Send us good thoughts :]
As we began this journey we knew we needed to determine whether or not we wanted to know our sperm donor. After thinking about all of our male friends and considering all of our options we have decided to go through a sperm bank to become pregnant. Now we are sort of overwhelmed with the lists and lists of potential sperm donors and many websites. Does anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone know which sperm banks are better/more reputable? Help! Where do we start!
Later this month we will have our reproduction counseling appointment with our doctor. Updates to follow...
