Florida’s plan for bullied LGBTQ kids is sending them to Christian schools

A recent analysis of private schools that have signed up to participate in Florida’s LGBTQ bullying program shows that many of the schools enact their own form of state-sponsored bullying ― by refusing to admit LGBTQ students or outlining punishment for students in same-sex relationships. For this analysis, HuffPost studied the student handbooks and mission statements of schools that signed up.

As of Aug. 1, nearly 70 schools had signed up to participate in the The Hope Scholarship Program which gives students who report being bullied $6,700 towards tuition at a private school, or $750 for transportation to another public school. This past March, Florida became the first state to create a private school voucher program just for bullied students.
