Vaccination Showdown: Exes Melissa Etheridge & Tammy Lynn Michaels fight over children’s medical care

Melissa Etheridge and ex-wife, Tammy Lynn Michaels are expected to be in a L.A. courtroom because the Grammy award winning singer is refusing to allow their six year old twins to be vaccinated.

Since ending their relationship in 2010, after nearly seven years together, the two have been embroiled in a very public, bitter custody battle over their twins, daughter, Johnnie Rose, and son, Miller Steven, with mud slinging and vicious barbs traded back and forth between the pair.

Tammy Lynn’s lawyer filed legal docs stating that she wants to be the sole parent to make decisions on the twins health issues because Melissa has refused to allow them to be vaccinated.

Sources connected to the case tell us that Tammy Lynn wants the kids vaccinated because they are now enrolled in public school in the Los Angeles area. Etheridge, a breast cancer survivor, underwent chemotherapy to fight the disease, “doesn’t believe in vaccinations, period. It’s not a fear of Autisim, she just doesn’t think immunizations are necessary,” the insider revealed.

A recent measles outbreak at a Texas church infected 25 people, ranging in age of 4 months old to 44 years old. At least 12 of those people hadn’t been immunized, and the others didn’t have any record of being vaccinated against the measles, according to USA Today.

As part of the couple’s post split settlement, Melissa is obligated to pay Tammy $23,000 per month.
