CNN suggests Obama could benefit from supporting marriage equality
CNN has highlighted a Hawaiian lesbian couple that will legally celebrate a civil union January 1st, but they’d rather receive federal marriage benefits that do not apply to same-sex couples.
The White House correspondent delivering the story insinuated President Obama could gain votes if he legalizes same-sex marriage. Less than a year after the push for civil unions was vetoed, Gov. Neil Abercrombie signed into law a bill legalizing civil unions and making Hawaii the seventh state to grant such privileges to same-sex couples.
