Majority in Minnesota want marriage equality

A new Minnesota Star Tribune poll shows the majority of it’s citizens oppose amending the state Constitution to ban marriage equality. Results of the poll show 55 percent of respondents oppose a ban on same-sex marriage, while 39 percent favor it. Not surprisingly – support for the ban rises with age. Sixty percent of respondents aged 18 to 34 oppose the idea. A slimmer majority, 51 percent, of the state’s seniors oppose the ban. “We should have our own choices and abilities to choose what we want and not have someone categorize or label people because of their sexual orientation,” said Adam Leistiko, a 22-year-old Democrat from Edina who opposes the marriage amendment. “I have a very open mind.”
