Rosie O’Donnell’s new documentary on HBO: ‘A Family is a Family is a Family…’

Rosie O’Donnell and HBO offer an important documentary airing January 31 at 7PM, called A Family is a Family is a Family: A Rosie O’Donnell Celebration.

In the documentary, children of various families offer their insights about what being a family means to them.

GLAAD blogs about the film: Challenging stereotypes, the film creates a portrait of the modern American family in all its wonderful diversity. Among those featured are: children with two fathers or two mothers; a girl whose mother and father adopted her in China; three brothers who live with their mother and grandmother; a pair of mothers who are getting married to make one big family; and families with adopted kids and children born through in-vitro fertilization.

The film is directed and produced by Amy Schatz, whose credits include such award-winning HBO family productions as the “Classical Baby” series and the special “Goodnight Moon & Other Sleepytime Tales.”

Three of O’Donnell and Carpenter’s kids are also adopted, while the fourth was born to Carpenter as a result of artificial insemination.

Gawker says they met last month on Rosie’s Ask Ro web chat. One month after Rosie admitted that the single life sucks, she was spotted holding hands with Tracy – who she met during the online chat.

Perez Hilton reports that – even though Rosie O’Donnell has split from her wife, Kelli – the former couple’s R Family Cruises plans to continue sailing the seas!

Says Hilton: “Reps for the cruise company say it will continue to be ‘business as usual’ for R Family Cruises, with Kelli managing the upcoming trips with her business partner, Gregg Kaminsky.

Rosie O’Donnell acknowledges ‘issues’ with Kelli

Rose O’Donnell says that she had her spouse of five years, Kelli Carpenter, are undergoing rough patch in their relationship – and passes up a chance to refute speculation that Carpenter has moved out of their home in Nyack, N.Y., and into an apartment in Manhattan.

“We’re a family. We will remain a family forever. And we are working on our issues,” O’Donnell, 47, tells USA Today in an interview conducted Tuesday.

“Kelli and I love each other very much and we are working on our issues,” a tearful O’Donnell says, emphasizing that the couple’s four children are “a priority.” “Those are the only words I am ever going to say. Ever. And that is something that has been agreed upon by all parties. But everything’s fine and everybody’s good and we’re still both raising them together. We will both continue to parent them and we’re friendly and everything’s all right.”

Rosie O’Donnell says there’s no truth to report she’s splitting with Kelli … again

Tabloid stories claim Rosie and Kelli have been living separately for months, but Rosie’s rep says otherwise – for the second time this year.

“There is no truth to this – at all,” says a spokesperson for O’Donnell. “I get this rumor every time Rosie travels for work. Right now she is on tour with Cyndi Lauper.”

Rosie and Kelli were wed in 2004 and have four children.

Rosie O’Donnell laughed off published reports that she and partner Kelli Carpenter are on the outs.

“We’re hearing that the togetherness of Rosie O’Donnell and Kelli Carpenter, the handsome blonde gal Rosie calls her wife, may not be so together anymore…whatever other difficulties such a breakup might cause, there is also a house full of adopted kids they’re raising,” wrote New York Post gossip columnist Cindy Adams.

Not so, Ro’s peeps say.

“Rosie thinks that Cindy Adams is a lesbian but she doesn’t know it yet,” a rep for the former “The View” co-host told Us Weekly. “She’s going to leave Kelli for Cindy Adams.”

Ro and Kel married in 2004 when the mayor of San Francisco allowed same-sex marriages, but that wedding was declared invalid. Rosie said last month when California gave the go-ahead for gays to get married that she and her gal aren’t going to re-tie the knot until same sex marriage is legal everywhere.

“Because otherwise, I said to Kelli, we’ll be going around touring the country on the marriage tour…state by state,” she said.

The pair, who have been together since 1997, have four children: Parker, 13; Chelsea, 11; Blake, 8; and Vivienne, 5.
