Lesbian moms welcome quadruplets in California. Couple prepares for a busy life after deciding against selective reduction

Christine Gaiennie [left] and Patsy Lovell [right] – from Placentia, California – have welcomed quadruplets. Both women work as civilians for the Irvine Police Department. They have been together 5 years and have a 2-year-old son by the same sperm donor as the quads. The couple met on the job 14 years ago, when they worked as police dispatchers.

The Orange County Register reports the women were not planning on such a large family. They wanted one sibling for their son, but decided against selective reduction after they saw the ultrasound.

“We’re definitely done having kids,” Cristine Gaiennie (39) told The OC Register. “We got more than we bargained for. We hit the baby lottery.”

The quads, two boys and two girls, are still in hospital, and the proud parents are preparing their home. They plan to continue working different shifts at the Police Department and receiving childcare from volunteers and nannies.

What a wonderful journey you are on! OK, if having one child makes both parents sleep deprived, does quads mean anyone within a 4 mile radius also loose sleep!?

Our son just turned 10 months old and I’m enjoying every bit of it! We hope to expand our family in 2009. We are so very happy and excited. We live in OC and are looking for lesbian parenting groups. Any recommendations?

Wishing your family a lifetime of love!

My sister is having quadruplets due sometime within the next couple of months. I commend you for taking on such a challenging role and mostly because you are a proud couple raising kids. We are also in Southern California so maybe my four nephews can play with your four little ones. Best of luck

I wish the best to the couple I am a lesbian mother of a Daughter of 16 Months and my partner is due to have twins Aug 30 2008. We were really nervous when we saw the ultrasound but soon got used to it and couldn’t be happier. I am glad everyone is doing great.

  • So exciting. I hope they are ready for a house full of love. 🙂
