A subject not often discussed relates to the “other” father. The dad who did NOT donate his sperm for the baby.
The couple had a child through in vitro fertilization (IVF) and obviously only one man could donate. They drew straws, flipped a coin, or discussed it thoroughly. Regardless of the decision process, there’s only one bio-dad in the family.
We found a blogger who’s raising a child developed through insemination. He’s a married straight man raising two kids who are biologically another man’s. Some people call them DI Kids because they were conceived via donor insemination. His blog offers intimate thoughts about family life, observations of the world, and recommended books relevant to insemination and surrogacy.
Understandably, a gay couple’s DI Kid holds special attachment to the “other” father because the sperm came from his partner. Heterosexual couples may encounter some different circumstances with DI Kids, but this blog offers DI information and commentary that’s useful to gay men as well.
