Gay and lesbian employees of U.S. companies have found little protection from discrimination in the workplace. Employers are slowly beginning to update policies to protect us.
“The shocking reality is that most people don’t even realize that GLBT people can still get fired simply for who they are and they have no recourse,” said Jody M. Huckaby, PFLAG’s executive director. “Our campaign will make people realize that this is a reality for too many people and that passing ENDA is the solution.”
The campaign includes sending thousands of postcards to congressional representatives with the hope of a “yes” vote on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA).
The postcards read: “People don’t get fired for being straight. (But they can if they’re gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender.)”
